This was the blitzkrieg day of plumbing... the big scary moment of truth where the old, rusty galvanized pipes needed to be broken into and connected to the supply for the outbuilding. The original point of connection turned out to be 1/2", not 3/4", so i found a new and better point to tap in. Then i wised up and found a better place: the 3/4" feeder to the water heater, most of which was already copper from some past plumbing update. I pulled of the related fitting, and the galvanized pipe, though half-filled with rust, still had good threads. Then I realized an even better place to tap into the house plumbing, but i was already committed to redoing the water heater line. So i spent an extra few hours redoing that section, even though it didn't need replacing, and then got around to actually tapping into the house main (at the point of entry, which had a section of 3/4" copper, which lets me bypass all the house galvanized entirely, except for the feeder from the street which may still be galvanized.) A long day, and a big moment for me psychologically. The system is now pressure tested for several days, holding pressure like a champ. Pardon me while i notch my belt. :-)
