Today was a really, really frustrating day. One of the worst. But i can't help my good mood now, now that i'm eating dinner and relaxing, because tomorrow AM the insulation crew arrives, and all my mistakes and missteps and regrets get hidden under a soft blanket of fiberglass. I found out today through my own forehead-slapping realizations and through assistance on an online audio geek forum, that i made a few crucial mistakes in my acoustic isolation plan, and the whole staggered stud wall thing has been somewhat of a Quixotic folly. I agonized over that stuff, read books, sought input, etc, and still screwed it up. I'm seeing clearly now the value of hiring professional consultants. Anyway, i've salvaged what i can of the situation, but real remedy involves work and money i'm not sure i'm ready to take on. We'll see how i feel after a night or two of sleep, but gosh, i dunno. Anyhow, you'll see me in this timelapse scurrying about, cutting the end studs in the staggered stud wall down the middles (long story), putting leftover roof sheet metal over some of the roof trusses so that things can be hung from them later without digging into the wood, and generally cleaning up (for real this time) for the insulation crew. Once again, i thank the timelapse gods that you can't hear me regressing to a four year old.
